Senator Simmons Upcoming Events
REMINDER: 7th District Mobile Office Hours with IDFPR at Edgewater Library on Wednesday, August 7th
My office is hosting Mobile Office Hours with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) on Wednesday, August 7th from 12:30-3:00 pm at the Edgewater Library Branch located at (6000 N Broadway 2nd Floor). If you or anyone you know is applying for a professional license through the state or needs to apply, please invite them to this event!
Extended wait times for professional license processing with IDFPR is one of the most common problems my office encounters every day. In response, I am bringing IDFPR’s services team directly to our district! My staff will also be available to assist with other State programs at this event, such as Medicaid, SNAP, Senior Ride-Free transit passes, Senior license plate discounts, and any questions or concerns. For any questions, you can call my office at 773-769-1717.
REMINDER: Senator Simmons Invites Survivors of Domestic Violence to a 7th District Outreach and Resource Event on Thursday, August 8th
In partnership with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, I am organizing and hosting an event for Survivors of Domestic Violence and allies at the Church of the Atonement located at (5749 N. Kenmore Avenue) on Thursday, August 8th from 6:00-7:00 pm.
I care deeply for survivors of domestic violence in our community, and want to ensure survivors have easier access to the programs and services they need. This event will provide safe and confidential space for people to share their needs, as well as highlight all of the state resources and programs available. Two organizations serving DV survivors, Apna Ghar and Between Friends, will also be attending. If you would like to RSVP in advance, please do so by emailing
Join Senator Simmons for a Virtual Town Hall on Monday, August 12th
Join me for my Virtual Town Hall on Monday, August 12 from 6-7 pm via Zoom. I will be sharing legislative updates from the Spring session, including establishing a permanent child tax credit in Illinois, eliminating medical debt with passage of The Medical Debt Relief Act and The Fair Patient Billing Act, fighting for workers and young people’s rights, advancing sustainable, safe, and equitable transit, expanding affordable housing, and ongoing work of destigmatizing LGBTQ+ identities and issues. I will also take as many questions as time allows. Please RSVP to the event at bit.ly/SimmonsTH. I look forward to seeing you there!
Senator Simmons to Host Back to School Bash at Senn High School on Friday, August 16th
It is already school season again, and I am hosting a Back to School Bash for students and families of all ages! The bash will take place on Friday, August 16th from 5:00-6:30 pm in Senn High School’s Gymnasium at 5900 N. Glenwood Ave. Attendees can enter through Door 4 on N. Glenwood Ave. Similar to last year’s bash, we will have free school supplies, free backpacks, and free food! The entire event is free and open to the public. I hope you see you there! For any questions, feel free to call my office at 773-769-1717. Additionally, thank you to Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth and the 48th Ward team, and Back to School America for connecting us with the backpacks and school supplies we will be giving out!
